Introducing Reading

Caregivers can begin modeling reading to their children even as young as infancy. 

Reading can be introduced to a child at any age. The younger they are the more time they have to gain all the marvelous benefits reading can offer. Reading to children allows exposure to a broader number of words daily. The more words that children are exposed to daily the more they can speak and understand themselves. This is the building blocks to their understanding and use of language. Allowing children to look at books and exploring the images on the page is a great starting point for individual interest in reading as well.
